Helpful tips for your trip to Liverpool

It depends on the kind of trip you are looking to have and the activities you want to participate in when you head there, but if you aim for either late spring or early autumn, you will get the best mix of fewer crowds, longer days, and warmer temperatures. If the crowds are not a huge problem and you know you are going to less frequented places, anytime between April and September will ensure you avoid the dreadful weather. Remember, England is very temperamental regarding the weather, so you should always prepare for rain.

  • Hiking
    Hiking

If you plan on hiking when you book a campervan in Liverpool, you should consider going either late March or early October, as the weather is warm and drier. You are also less likely to have to manoeuvre around large crowds, as much of the summer rush is over.

  • Outdoor activities
    Outdoor activities

When you rent a motorhome in Liverpool and intend to enjoy some outdoor activities, the best time to visit is August, as it is a little quieter than July and still warm enough.

  • Sightseeing
    Sightseeing

Ideally, early peak season is the best time for most sights and landmarks to be open to the public. The crowds are not quite as big as they will be later. Therefore, when you rent a campervan in Liverpool, you want to go sometime in April or May.

Best campervan routes around Liverpool

North Wales and Snowdonia
When you rent a motorhome in Liverpool and are looking for an exciting adventure, consider driving through North Wales towards Snowdonia National Park. Rather than taking a direct route like so many others, take the A494 to stop at the stunning Lake Bala and participate in some water sports. You can continue along the A494 to Snowdonia National Park whenever you hit the road. You can finish the route by driving to Anglesey before returning home via the A55.
The route takes roughly seven days, depending on how long you wish to stay on the road and how leisurely you want your trip to be when you book a motorhome for hire in Liverpool.

Winnat’s Pass, Peak District
The following route may be short, but it is still worth the trouble when you hire a campervan in Liverpool and explore the area. Winnat’s Pass is a route that takes you through an incredibly steep gorge flanked by limestone peaks on either side. Moreover, there is much to see and do within a short distance. For example, to the west, there is Castleton. Many people love the cave systems found at the start and end of the Pass, and hikers love to take on the challenge of Mam Tor, which is officially one of the most prominent peaks in the Peak District and only 5 minutes from the actual Pass.

The Lake District
In the north of England, you will find the scenic and rugged Lake District National Park, which is worth heading to when you rent a motorhome in Liverpool. It is relatively easy to get there from Liverpool, located west of the well-maintained M6. However, you need to be aware that there are some twisting and narrow country lanes that, while safe to drive in a campervan or motorhome, can get busy during summer. There are 16 beautiful lakes in the Lake District, including the deepest lake in the UK, Wastwater, and the area is home to England’s tallest mountain, Scafell Pike. While Windermere, perhaps the most well-known, is 10.5 miles long.

Places of interest and excursions in Liverpool

Lake District
Home to 16 of the largest lakes in England; the National Park consists of 26 miles of estuaries and coastline. Home to the deepest lake and longest lake in England, Wastwater, 74 metres deep, and Windermere, 10.5 miles long.

Peak District
The Peak District became the UK’s first official national park in 1951. The National Park stretches through Greater Manchester, Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Cheshire, and Derbyshire counties.

Snowdonia National Park
Snowdonia National Park stretches between Conwy and Gwynedd in the mountainous northwest of Wales. Snowdon is home to the highest mountain in England and Wales, 1085 metres tall. There are six very scenic routes to the top, varying in length and difficulty. If you don't feel you'd be able to hike it, there is the Snowdon Mountain Railway, which leaves from Llanberis and takes you to the top of the mountain.

Ashopton Viaduct, Ladybower Reservoir and Crook Hill in the Derbyshire Peak District National Park.
