The vehicle was very reliable and a pleasure to drive. However, there were a few issues: 1. The vehicle hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly. There were still breadcrumbs on the floor and in the cupboards. 2. The microwave hummed because of the fridge. We eventually secured it with scraps of kitchen roll so that the humming stopped. 3. The wall bracket for the shower came loose whilst driving. We had to screw it back on (using a pair of scissors). 4. The side door often opened slightly when driving over uneven ground. We then had to pull over, open the door and close it again. 5. At the end of our trip, the grey water tank gauge was faulty. It showed full even though we were empty. Unfortunately, the vehicle was only designed for light off-road use. The tyres fitted were not suitable for sandy sections. The electrical cables from the toaster and water heater were too short. The gas pipe to the cooker was too short to cook on the pull-out table. This vehicle is OK for tourist 4WD use, but not for anything more. Unfortunately!

We were given a camper with different equipment than we had rented. We were told that this camper was not available with the equipment we had previously rented. When we picked it up, we saw the exact same camper in the car park with the equipment we had rented and wanted. So we were lied to by several rental staff about this. As we were travelling for a total of 8 weeks and not just 2 weeks, we had expected a camper with the correct equipment. The return went smoothly. Due to these incidents, you will not receive a better rating.

We embarked on a two-week journey, renting a campervan for over 4000 Australian Dollars, with high expectations of a seamless and enjoyable adventure. Unfortunately, our experience has been marred by a series of issues that have significantly impacted our trip. On the 12th of November, we spent two hours in communication with Sophia from Britz, addressing problems such as a blocked toilet drain and a seemingly defective 240-volt battery. Despite diligently following troubleshooting instructions, including attempting manual clearance of the toilet blockage and resetting the battery, our efforts were in vain. This meant we were unable to use the water pump/water, have a shower, or use lights and electrical facilities of the van. We were promised a service appointment to resolve both issues the next morning, and our location was shared promptly. Regrettably, the promised callback from David in Shark Bay only came in the late afternoon when we had no reception, and subsequent attempts to establish contact were unsuccessful. Additionally, our email seeking assistance went unanswered. As a consequence, we have been forced to seek powered campsites daily, as the van is rendered unusable without a power connection. It was only after contacting Britz again on the 15th of November that we were able to secure a service appointment in Exmouth for the following day. It was during this appointment that we discovered we had been driving with a faulty battery since the beginning of our journey. While the battery has since been replaced, new issues continue to surface regularly, including missing hinges, malfunctioning cabinet doors and drawers e.g. the cutlery drawer opens and closes while we are driving and appears to have an issue with the lock mechanism, thus is noisy and always a fright while driving and feels unsafe; the bin door has been temperamental from day one, same with the cupboard door for the coffee plunger, kettle etc; a defective side door and screen door that doesn’t secure shut has been difficult to manage on a daily basis. The glass coffee plunger that came with the van was broken when we discovered it in the cupboard on day one. The culmination of these problems forced us to cancel our Outback tour that we had booked due to a lack of confidence in the vehicle and Britz services. Furthermore, the extended periods required for issue resolution by customer service, coupled with the threat of financial responsibility for user-error problems (i.e. the flat battery that had nothing to do with user error), have only added to our frustrations. We strongly question whether the van underwent any kind of thorough pre-handover inspection and who bears responsibility for critical issues arising in remote locations to ensure safety and security of Britz customers, who are essentially travellers. Especially in WA, where we’ve found through our experience with Britz, that service/s are quite limited. This was not what we expected from Britz. Had we been aware of the reliance on cities, service availability (including the time drain and inconvenience to our daily plans in just making a phone call and waiting to be picked up as well as the actual call time speaking with the customer service representative), and power requirements, we would have opted for a smaller vehicle and stayed in conventional accommodations. The subpar condition of the van has severely limited our daily activities, and whilst Sophia and Wendy were warm and tried to be helpful, ultimately they could only do so much, which has left us in a lurch time and time again. Frankly, the standard of Britz customer service overall (including long call times, lagging service and responsiveness, poor checking of the vehicle between customers ~broken doors and drawers, coffee plunger etc) has been disheartening and has impacted our experience and our trip on a daily basis. In addition, it is crucial to underscore that this trip represented a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity for me, a rarity that is challenging to replicate. The extended duration of leave from my professional and also private responsibilities, required for such an extensive journey, was an exceptional and seldom-granted concession within the confines of my employment. The profound disappointment stemming from the suboptimal state of the rented campervan has not only disrupted the anticipated enjoyment of this unique experience but has also cast a shadow over the rarity of this significant personal investment in leisure time. In light of these challenges, we find it necessary to file a formal complaint and seek resolution for the inconveniences we have endured during this rental period. We appreciate your prompt attention to this matter and look forward to a swift and satisfactory resolution.

Instead of an Apollo Euro Deluxe, the motorhome was a Maui River and was marketed to us as an ‘upgrade’ model when we collected it. However, it was dirty and there were shards of glass on the floor. The door to the living area wouldn’t lock, so we had to secure it from the inside with a belt so that we could leave our belongings in the motorhome. There was no locksmith in our area, so the travel service couldn’t help us. The heating was so loud that it was almost impossible to sleep. Furthermore, the yellow engine warning light came on after a short while. The breakdown service was unable to fix the problem.

The first vehicle offered was filthy and the cabin and driver’s compartment were extremely worn out. What’s more, it wouldn’t start. The replacement vehicle offered after a long discussion was acceptably clean (far from perfect, which is what I expect), the cabin air filter was missing, the passenger window regulator wasn’t working and the tyres were down to 3.4 mm – just about legal, but unacceptable for a three-week road trip. On top of that, it rattled all over the place. There are no mosquito nets on the windows – which are essential in WA. We ended up taking it as no other alternative was offered.

We had the Apollo Euro Mini for three weeks in Australia and travelled along the west coast with it. We have absolutely no complaints about the vehicle or the rental company. Pick-up and drop-off went smoothly, and the staff are extremely dedicated and answer every little question. We had no problems whatsoever with the vehicle during our trip. It took us reliably through Western Australia. We are extremely satisfied and can only recommend it to everyone. The Apollo Euro Mini is perfect for two people.

All in all, a positive overall picture. Good: Pick-up and drop-off of the vehicle without any problems; extremely friendly staff. All technically important functions ok. Space available (TOYOTA Hilux with body) Exchange of bed linen, bedding, towels during the journey at rental stations without any problems Power supply via solar and charging while travelling is completely sufficient; no external power supply for more than 10 days without any problems Use on 4WD routes without any problems (no hard off-road use) Less good: Mechanics of the pull-out table are very stiff Vehicle had over 170 tkm on the clock; accordingly, everything was already a bit worn out Kitchen utensils a bit small; exactly 2 knives, forks, plates, cups etc. Annoying: Received over 20 keys to the vehicle; over half superfluous as not belonging to the vehicle. Enclosed explanation on how to use the keys largely incorrect Bad: Body not watertight in heavy rain Artistic use of copious amounts of silicone compound indicates that the problem is not new Nevertheless: clear recommendation, I would choose the vehicle again for use on 4WD routes

Had a great road trip in W Australia with my wife and adult daughter. Opted for 6 berth to give up plenty of spacecwithout having to change layout. The rear bed stayed as a bed and table and seat stayed with forward upper bed used. Van very comfortable to drive we did over 3000 km. Found it easy to drive and refuel. Only down side was the pick up process with Apolo. The camper wasn't ready to pick up, still being serviced. Had to wait 2 hours which impacted our first days journey. The office seemed very busy on our day with lots of waiting times. We were first through the door when office opened. I would recommend contacting office beforehand to ensure vehicle will be ready on pick up.

The drawers, cupboards and storage spaces first had to be cleaned after the takeover. Cupboards were coming out of the glue. The curtains were missing stoppers and hooks so that the curtains fell out of the rails. Camperdays gave the wrong return address in Sydney on the voucher. There were many other little things and defects that should have been rectified with normal care. It was far from good.

We had to wait two hours for the motorhome when we went to collect it, as it wasn’t ready yet. There wasn’t enough time for the handover itself; we didn’t have a chance to familiarise ourselves with the motorhome, and the handover was over after just a few minutes. As a result, we didn’t realise straight away that the camping table and fan heater were missing. When we returned the motorhome, they tried to charge us for a technical inspection, claiming that we’d driven 40 km on an unpaved road and had been tracked whilst doing so. However, this road is actually paved, and according to the terms of the contract, we were allowed to drive on it. Unfortunately, it took quite some time to sort out the matter.

The vehicle we picked up had only been cleaned superficially. Glasses were dirty, fresh towels were still wet. Unfortunately, the waste water drain was blocked, which made it impossible to drain the waste water and meant that showers were only possible at the beginning. Otherwise, friendly and quick. You could really tell it was peak season. Apparently there wasn't enough time to properly prepare the vehicles for hire.

I was handed a dirty vehicle with various signs of accident damage. Furthermore, I wasn’t informed that the TV and air conditioning weren’t working. The steering pulled to the left and the wheel alignment was off. Various other minor issues were also annoying (dirty bed linen, only one set, dirty curtains, locks on the water tanks and broken cutlery). Furthermore, the windscreen wipers were very old and unusable. Praise for the handover of the vehicle. The staff member was understanding and very helpful. Great trip. As our camper wasn't ready yet, we got an upgrade and an Apollo The separate shower and the large fridge were great. Thanks to the solar panel, we had enough power for lighting and charging our mobile phones and drone and didn't have to go to a single campsite in the 3 weeks. The shower water was really hot. A problem with the gas pipe was fixed by the service team the very next day. And the campsite required without gas (due to the lack of a fridge and cooker) was refunded.

I have a 6m Weinsberg van and the comfort is much better than this 7m. Useless forced insurance sale at reception. Dirty vehicle, windscreen wipers not working, fridge door has to be blocked with a suitcase. defective suspensions: dangerous vehicle. Last year I rented in Tasmania from Cruisin: better vehicle. Above all, I took out ERGO insurance with camperdays and the rental company pressured me to buy a second insurance policy. beware!!!

The standard of the camper van at hand over at the Perth office was exceptionally poor. We had to ask that the cleaning of the interior was re-done but even at the second attempt the hygiene standards was not acceptable. In addition, curtains were dirty and some not in good repair, side door and flyscreen window were faulty, oil change was two months past it change date and the sign-off report in Perth that was e mailed included images of damages to the campervan that were from a previous hire - yet the office insisted that they were valid until a later e mail corrected their error. After many e mails that were sent but not actioned there was a small financial refund given.

Good afternoon. In my opinion, the camper was in a mediocre condition. For example: 1. When we took it over, it hadn’t been cleaned particularly well. We had to give it a thorough clean ourselves, as we had expected Swiss standards. 2. The doors on the various cupboards couldn’t be kept open because the hinges weren’t holding. 3. We had to tighten several screws on the cupboards as they were loose. 4. When the waste water tank was emptied, there was a terrible smell coming from the drain inside the vehicle. The smell cleared up after 24 hours. 5. The waste water hose was torn at the point where it connects to the vehicle. When draining, some of the waste water leaked out there. 6. Some of the blinds for darkening the interior were no longer easy to operate. 7. The bathroom door was warped and rattled. 8. Whilst driving, the glass cover over the washbasin shattered into a thousand pieces. It seemed to have been under too much strain. When we returned the vehicle, they took the view that we had to pay for the damage. 9. During the trip, we had to go to a garage because the windscreen wiper broke. Note: we received good advice over the phone. 10. The trim on the table and window started to come loose. All in all, the car was getting on a bit. I would not recommend the company. We have now hired a campervan from Travellers Autobarn for the third time, following previous trips around 14 years ago along the east coast of Australia and later in New Zealand. In the past, we consistently had positive experiences, and whilst this hire in Western Australia was not entirely disappointing, it is necessary to provide a realistic and balanced assessment. The collection process in Perth went smoothly, and the staff on site were very friendly and helpful. However, it became clear that the Kuga Camper has not changed at all in terms of design or equipment over the past 14 years. The interior feels outdated, giving the impression that the company has not invested in meaningful modernisation. Whilst the equipment provided is generally sufficient, it only covers the bare essentials. A major issue was cleanliness. Upon collection, the van had not been properly cleaned, and even the crockery was dirty, which is unacceptable given the rental price. Furthermore, the kitchen equipment was clearly limited to two people, leaving no flexibility. The mattresses are not actual mattresses but rather cushions, which become uncomfortable after a while, although this may also depend on personal expectations and age. Some aspects of the equipment were satisfactory, such as the camping chairs, but others, like the table, were already worn and damaged. Given that additional fees are paid for such equipment, better quality should reasonably be expected. Technical issues further reduced comfort: the windows were not properly sealed, allowing rainwater to enter the van. When this was mentioned at drop-off, the response given was simply to park the van out of the wind, which cannot be considered an adequate solution. Fuel consumption of the Toyota Hiace was noticeably high and should be taken into account when planning such a trip. In addition, the fridge was extremely loud, even at night, indicating a need for urgent replacement or modernisation. The Bluetooth system did not function reliably, and the interior table mount was unstable due to worn hinges and screws, which should be easy to repair. The curtains also appeared very old and likely had not been replaced for a long time, raising concerns about hygiene. Even small details, such as the rusty key for the external gas compartment, contributed to the overall impression of inadequate maintenance. The booking process via CamperDays was simple and convenient. However, it would be advisable for such platforms to assess and monitor the quality of the companies they work with more carefully, as the overall condition of the vehicle does not justify the price paid. After three rentals, it is clear that this will be the last time we choose Travellers Autobarn. For younger travellers on a tight budget with low expectations regarding comfort, it may still be a viable option. However, for those seeking a higher standard of quality and comfort, there are clearly better alternatives available in Australia.

The staff at pick up and drop off were fantastic, highly recommended. The van was old with over 300k miles on the clock, but it was good to drive and had no mechanical problems.

Unfortunately, the camper is much older than expected: 130,000 kilometres, the sunbathing areas are already very worn. The tables are battered. The layout is very well thought out. If the camper was newer, it would be a fine vehicle.
