Best campervan routes in Las Vegas
Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon
This is an iconic road trip that is very popular with people who rent a campervan in Las Vegas. It's a nice 450km drive that takes you through the Arizona desert landscape. We recommend breaking the journey up as there are many great places to stop. We recommend stopping at the Hoover Dam or exploring some Route 66 towns like Kingman and Williams. This whole route was just made for camper van hire in Las Vegas, and there are plenty of campsites where you can stay.
Las Vegas to Zion National Park
This shorter 270km route takes you to Zion National Park in Utah. As you leave the bright lights of Vegas, you will find yourself driving through some lovely desert landscapes. It’s an area known for its sandstone cliffs, hiking trails and canyons. Once there, book on the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. This is a car-free road where only a shuttle bus runs, but it also gives you some fantastic views of the park. There are many campgrounds in Zion National Park, but 2 of the best are Watchman Campground and South Campground.
Las Vegas to Arches National Park
If you want a longer journey, the 700km drive to Arches National Park could be for you. Along the way, you could stop at two other parks (Capital Reef National Park and Goblin Valley State Park), breaking the journey up over 3 days. The town of Moab near the Arches National Park is a great place to stay, and it's a place made for campervans and theres plenty of shops to stock up on supplies. Be warned, though, the area is popular so make sure you book in advance.

Just outside of Vegas is Valley State Park, which is known as one of the most beautiful natural areas in Nevada. It’s an area known for its red sandstone formations and ancient petroglyphs. The Fire Wave Trail is a popular hike in this area, leading you to some of the most iconic rock formations.
Lake Mead National Recreation Area
Just 50km outside of Vegas is Lake Mead National Recreation Area. This was created during the construction of the Hoover Dam. You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to outdoor activities, as there's the chance to hire a boat, go fishing, swim or go hiking. There are plenty of campsites in the area as its popular with those who pick up a motorhome for hire in Las Vegas. Book ahead, as these can be popular during the peak season.
Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area
This is a perfect short drive away as it's only 25km outside the city and could make an ideal first stop after picking up your campervan. It's a great place to participate in rock climbing or wildlife watching. If you are lucky enough, you might see a desert tortoise or a bighorn sheep.
