This hilly countryside, dotted with medieval villages and many vineyards, passes places like Greve, Castellina di Chianti, and Monteriggioni.

Val d’Orcia
Another awe-inspiring driving route when you rent a motorhome in Italy is the one that takes you around what is known as the Natural and Cultural Artistic Park of Val d’Orcia. This 110km journey takes you high along the stunning SP146 and SR2 roads. 110km may not sound like a lot on paper, but trust us; this journey is so dense, with exciting sights. • Vehicles approaching from the right or travelling over rails must be prioritised unless signs display a difference. Also note that cyclists near cycle paths and pedestrians at crossings have priority.

• On many mountainous roads, when two vehicles can’t pass one another, the car descending should reverse to a safe place to allow the other to pass. On other roads, the heavier vehicle always gets priority.

• The speed limits are categorised by the types of roads: 50 to 70 km/hour (based on local road signs) in built-up areas, 90 to 110 km/hour in outside built-up areas, and 130 km/hour on motorways.

• Campervans and vehicles with caravans are at most 12 metres long, 4 metres high, and 2.55 metres wide. Loads must not exceed 6 tonnes on the trailer with a single axle and 22 tonnes on the trailer with two axles.
