The CO₂ footprint indicates the amount of greenhouse gases released. It can be set for an activity (such as a flight), a process (such as making jeans) or a person. For example, the CO₂ footprint of a long-haul flight from Frankfurt to Los Angeles (there and back) is just under six tonnes. The production of 30 pairs of jeans has a CO₂ footprint of one tonne.

CO₂ offsetting cannot prevent emissions. However, the calculated compensation contribution ensures that the same amount of CO₂ is bound or saved elsewhere. This happens within the framework of various climate protection projects that counteract emissions.

There are two aspects that have a significant influence on the CO₂ consumption of your motorhome per kilometre driven: the size of the vehicle and the region in which you are travelling.
At CamperDays you can book various types of motorhomes - from small panel vans to large fully integrated motorhomes. These vehicle types also differ depending on the destination. In the USA, for example, there are different motorhome models than in Europe. As a result, the fuel consumption per vehicle type varies greatly.
Fuel consumption is the core parameter for calculating the resulting emissions. Taking all these aspects into account, our partner myclimate has calculated a CO₂ equivalent value for 100 kilometres driven for each vehicle type, based on average consumption. This is converted into a euro value and shown as a carbon offset contribution.

Together with myclimate, we at CamperDays have calculated the CO₂ emissions for each vehicle type and show you this during the booking process. You can now decide whether you want to offset the emissions for your trip or not. All carbon offset contributions paid are collected by us and transferred to the myclimate carbon offset portfolio at regular intervals.

With your offset, you support the myclimate portfolio, which consists of various carbon offset projects in developing and emerging countries. The projects demonstrably reduce emissions by replacing climate-damaging fossil energy sources with renewable ones or promoting more energy-efficient technologies, as well as reducing methane emissions or avoiding or storing CO₂ emissions in natural sinks.
The myclimate portfolio ranges from solar and drinking water treatment plants, compost, recycling or efficient digester projects to forest protection, reforestation and renaturation initiatives or projects for the rewetting of peatlands.
